While the 2010 emissions standards represented uncharted water to our competition, Volvo’s innovative Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system had already been well proven for years in Europe. The system combines the best aspects of Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) with a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) and SCR, to provide a solution that exceeds the new EPA standards for NOx emissions. And Volvo’s SCR technology handles DPF “regeneration” automatically under normal driving conditions – so there’s never a need to park the coach and perform an “active” regeneration.
